MacBook Air - Tips

I was quite impressed by the MacBook Air, as it has been designed with great attention to detail -- both for hardware and software.  Here are a couple items to help you start quicker and be more productive:

  1. The single USB port is hidden behind a hinged panel on the right edge of the MacBook Air.  (Apple calls this a flip-down port.)
  2. The default network is a wireless network.  You need to change to a wired network if that’s how you want to connect.  To connect to a wired network, you need an adapter (which comes with the MacBook Air) that lets you plug your network’s Cat5 network cable into the USB port of the MacBook Air.
  3. To turn on/off network access (to conserve on power, for instance), click on the AirPort icon near the top right of your screen.  It looks like radio waves pointing upward.
